About Us

Our Approach

Our UK education specialists work with partners to train local teachers and help them gain nationally recognised teaching qualifications.

We design bespoke curricula and develop tailored teaching resources, with an emphasis on basic skills. These preserve the child’s mother tongue.

We equip each community with the means and materials to build their own resourced classroom.

We value inclusion, with almost 50% girls attending.

Our Challenge

The Adivasi or Tribal peoples are the aboriginal inhabitants of India, with 7.5 million in Gujarat, our current area of operation. Historically, their remote areas of habitation, poor infrastructure and inadequate access to essential services such as health and education have led to increasing challenges: Literacy rates are as low as 15% and mortality rates are high (average life expectancy is still less than 50). This has resulted in migration towards cities and, with this, the loss of traditional livelihoods, cultures, languages as communities fragment.

We believe as many as 1 million children in rural Gujarat find it difficult to access schools on a regular basis.
