Our Partners
Our methodology is based on an ongoing, reflective collaboration with Indian partners.
Bhasha
Bhasha is the pre-eminent NGO in India supporting the needs, languages and culture of the Adivasi peoples. We have partnered with Bhasha to deliver our programme in Gujarat for the past five years.
Bhasha was founded by Dr Ganesh Devy, the leading authority on tribal language and culture. The Adivasi have a very rich linguistic, artistic and cultural heritage – for the authoritative view see:
Devy, G. (2006)A Nomad Called Thief, Reflections on Adivasi Silence, New Delhi, Orient Longman.
Ellison Medical Foundation
The Ellison Medical Foundation (EMF) was founded by Larry Ellison, founder and CEO of Oracle Corporation. The Foundation’s core mission is to support basic biomedical research on aging relevant to understanding lifespan development processes and age-related diseases and disabilities. In particular, the Foundation has always wished to stimulate new, creative, work that might not be funded by traditional sources or that is often under-funded (mainly in the U.S). From time to time however, the Foundation has made exploratory awards to provide opportunities for advancement in other areas such as education. The EMF has funded the growth and development of Reach to Teach since 2008. Without Larry Ellison and the Foundation’s support we would not have been able to achieve our mission and provide thousands of children with an education they would not otherwise receive.
We would like to extend are greatest thanks to the team at EMF, in particular to Dr Richard Sprott, the Executive Director and Dr Kevin Lee, the Deputy Executive Director for their guidance, advice and patience. We have also enjoyed working with them enormously.
The Schools Programme
The Schools Programme
The R2T Schools Programme engages UK pupils directly in our mission. We have created workshops, events and teaching resources to hook and sustain pupil interest. We link to personal, social and health education within a global context.
The core elements of our programme consist of:
- A compelling launch assembly and/or workshops on our work in India addressing citizenship, geography, enterprise and fundraising
- Resource and fundraising materials which include lesson plans linked to curriculum areas such as geography, social and global education
Our partner schools are provided with a direct links to schools in rural India.
